Go to Settings/System. Tap on Backup and toggle the backup button active. This will create a remote backup of your device that will retain some app settings, Contacts and Photos. You can restore these settings when setting up a new device, during the initial setup you will be able to restore from a backup or the device will automatically restore some settings when logging in with your Google account.
